...outside of seeing primates, what I wanted to see most was the big cats...
...it seemed like we wouldn`t find any of these noble beasts on our trip to Nakuru - not from lack of trying...
...our guide took us on a late afternoon game drive where the lions are, by this time of day, sleeping in the trees - still no success...
...next morning after a quick coffee we headed out again - and there they were...
...Francois actully was the one to spot them first...very difficult as they are the same colour as the parched grass and the four of them were resting in the grass under a tree...
...the guides share sightings with each other but ours gave us the chance to take our pictures before calling this one in...as we were driving away, several vehicles were descending to this location...but by this time the lions were all lying flat in the grass sleeping...we got the best shots of the day...
...there should be more opportunities to see big cats in the Mara this weekend but if not we have these images...
